In my family we all own some generation of the iPhone - we all appreciate the fantastic quality of this tool! I have a need to be in vibrate mode at the exact same time every day M-F and back into audio ringer mode at the same time. Is there an application or a method (besides my remembering to flip the switch) to control the vibrate/audio ringer mode to specific times during the day? I normally remember to flip to vibrate, but now and then forget with an out-of-gate busy schedule. Any ideas...or can an application be written to provide this function? Would be a great app for lawyers, doctors, teachers, etc. Thanks in advance for any ideas/suggestions!
You refer to one of the things I miss most about my Q9h, a WinMo phone. It could switch profiles based on times of day or appointments. I could select a time, say the 2 hour block for a movie, and the phone would automatically switch to vibrate and back again after the time was up. I also had it timed to power down every night around midnight to clear the memory and to get a full charge. Sadly, without JB, Apple will not let non-Apple provided apps to run in the background to perform such activities. I could even program it to send an SMS at a certain hour. Oh, well ....

JB the phone...then it TRULY becomes the powerhouse it should have intially been.

be careful when you say that because there are some disadvantages to jailbreaking. for example, it does slow down the processor. also if you don't know what you're doing, then you probably shouldn't jailbreak because once you jailbreak it, you lose all of the apple support. also, since cydia carries with it terminal which gives full access to the system, it leaves a potential to mess up the code and leaving you screwed pretty much.
