Default MP4 video Sync to Iphone not working. SOLVED!!

Not sure what I am doing wrong here. Please help if you can.

Tech info:
Windows Vista
IPhone 3G / no mods / not jailbroken / newest software
Video i am trying to sync is non Itunes purchased.

I have not been able to get a video synced to my Iphone. (tried the incredible hulk mp4 and Apples "test movie"). I am able to convert to mp4 no problem and I put the video in Itunes and it plays in Itunes no problem but when I click on my Iphone under devices in ITunes and click on the video tab it shows nothing availible to sync. I sync anyway hoping for the best and of course I get the expected result - No video has been synced.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

When you open up Itunes go to the video tab (under your device) and make sure you have it checked to sync videos.

Yup it is checked. But the problem is nothing is showing up there for me to sync. I add the video to iTunes with file/add to library and go to the video tab and it is still empty

If you are able to play the file in Itunes, but not be able to chose it to sync to the phone it sounds like the conversion format is not correct. Remember that Itunes can read and play most all video formats but can only sync ones compatiable with the iphone. Make sure when you convert the file the software you use will convert to MP4 video for iphone.

It is in mp4 format. I tried to convert it using several different programs listed on this site and got the same result with each of them.

I missed something in my explaination... so please allow me to clear it up. When I add the file to itunes it shows up under "purchased" over by the devices. If I click on purchased it brings up a screen showing the video I have added. If I click it on that screen it will play in Itunes. However when I switch over to the videos tab that is when I can no longer see the video I have added. I double checked that it definately is mp4.

I also tried the apple test movie. I followed instructions found here:http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1211
Step number 5 failed - It showed converting but then never showed a converted copy. It tried it several times.

I am very confused as to why this won't work. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!!

You may want to try this to see if it works.

It takes a while for it to convert, so you have to be patient, but it will create a duplicate copy of the video in your library that will work on your iPhone. After it's done, you can delete the original file in your library to save hard drive space - just be sure you delete the right one since the files will be identical.
