Default iPhone questions

Hi,

I'm thinking of getting my first smartphone, and the iPhone is a strong contender. Just a few questions b/c I'm still not completely certain.

Can the iPhone be used on the Sprint network?

Also, I haven't stayed very up to date on Apple news; what's the difference between the 2G and 3G model? And what's going to be new about the iPhone that's supposedly coming out this summer?

I know all about the great things people say about the iPhone, but have ya'll run into anything you don't like? It can be something minor or something major. I just want to get as well-rounded of an opinion on the iPhone that I can get.

Thanks so much for your help!

Can't be run on Sprint. The 2G as you called it, is the 1st version, it runs on the Edge network only (slower internet speed) the 3G runs on the 3G network, way faster. I've had a few different phones, and am pretty much completely satisfied with the iPhone. Apple release bug fixes shortly after they are found, so its always up to date. I won't own anything else after having one.
