Actually it will be faster on wifi...

Open a large page on your phone and time it. Now open the same page on your laptop/desktop while connected to the same wifi and time out. The laptop will be able to render the page faster than the phone. This also holds true with the 3GS since the proc is 50% faster and memory is double.

Yep - there are tons of youtube videos showing the increased speed.

Pages load and render much faster on the 3GS over the same WIFI connection.

It's more than a 50% clock speed increase. The processor has L2 cache, and a better architecture. Like Anandtech said, it's about like the comparison between a 486 and a Pentium. The Pentium 90 was faster than the 486 DX4-100 for the same reason.

I've also heard reports that the processor actually jumps up in speed to meet demand.

I think it all depends on a person's needs. Its subjective.
As I said in the Introductions section, I maybe the only one who bought a 3G 2days before the launch of the 3GS. And I didn't care!!! For my needs I knew that 16gb were moooore than enough, I have an 8gb ipod and it's not even half way full!!! I'm not interested in the camera cos I use my Lumix. And plus there were the new features coming with the new FW. So I'm extremely happy of my choice. Speed? My 3G is already fast: apps open and close quickly and web pages load in few seconds, how much faster can it get?! Maybe from the eye of an expert there's a lot of difference, but for me, a very normal and basic user, there's no difference!!!
And as kayyg wrote, for the big stuff I will always use my beloved white macbook!!!

cycorder works fine if yyew want video.....and pixel pipe allows yew to publish them.....so I use cydia for my needs.....and yew guys used mo
money.......no harm....I juss don't have money to throw around ya kno....?.I hadd to get my 8gb iPhone the day b4 3g s came out.but heyy.....I love my phone......but I must admit.......all iPhones wuld be lame if it weren't for cydia....and if yew like yur iPhone without cydia or icy.......
