Hello, I have a question about this as well. I have a t-mobile sim card with an unlimited data plan. I have read that if you buy a turbo sim for the iphone 3G. You can use the 3G network with t-mobile.

I just had an ipod touch 2G and loved it. However, I just sold my phone and ipod so I could get an iphone 3G and only carry around 1 item. I'v done a lot of reading and I thought that you could use the 3G network if you use a turbo sim.

Turbo sim's are very unreliable and can possibly brick your phone. At the very least they can lock it back up.
Do some more homework and be very careful before you do this.

Thank you for the warning and I'll be sure to very carefully pick a good turbo sim. But do you know if it'll allow 3G network with t-mobile sim card? This is what i'm trying to achieve. I'm stuck on the t-mobile network (my parents are paying my phone bills while i'm in college and they won't budge off t-mobile) and I'm definatly getting an iphone 3g so I don't have to carry a phone and ipod around but I would really like to use the 3G network as well. I'm very tired of EDGE.

I have been looking it up, i'v been finding mixed answers from everywhere. That's why I signed up on these forums to try and find some more definite answers. I saw the post macgirl made but it seems like she's talking about just a regular unlocked iphone and not one using a turbo sim.

Well, 3G is a hardware thing and as has been stated no iphone is going to be compatible with the t-mobile network here in the states. Sorry.

It is more expensive for me to buy a 1st generation iPhone with 8 or 16gb than it would be for me to buy a new 3G because a friend of mine is selling them and would give it to me cheaper.

Please give me your thoughts, I really appreciate it!
Wait Im about to buy a 4gb iPhone... and I plan on jailbreaking and downloading A LOT of apps and different customizations...Can the 4gigger not handle this

I think where you will really notice the difference is the amount of music / video you can install. But for all your tweaks and stuff, I wouldn't worry.
