Default help with email

Hey everyone i have a quick question. i have a iphine 3g unlocked and jailbreaked with tmobile.. i want to know if there is a certain setting that will let me get my emails with out me having to log into my account. does it update by itself or do i have to keep logging in and checking....

plz help thankss

What e-mail service provider are you trying to set up?

well i already have hotmail and yahoo and they are on my iphone already but if someone sends me an email it wont tell me. u knoe just like a text message i have to go into my email and refresh

Ah, yes. Your setting is most likely set to "Manually." Go into: Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data > change it off Manually to Every 15 minutes (this is what mine is set at). And ensure Push is turned OFF. Hotmail and Yahoo don't support it anyway.
