Default GPS sucks for me..anyone?

I had been trying it out the whole day.. takes good 5-10 minutes to discover my location (sometimes never)and even if shows up then the pointer thing is not flowing smoothly.. I was in the bus near to the window and the bus was going smoothly not stopping.. but the pointer was stopping for 2-3secs to even 10 secs before it moves further... very disappointing...

In short:
1.the accuracy of the movement was wrong by 50-100 feet atleast by 90% of the times.. and MOREOVER..
2.the movement wasnt smooth.... so I am thinking that its the busy day for att 3g network and would give it a shot again...
My area has 3G but I wasnt getting great speeds until late night.
Anyone else is facing similar issues?
Sorry I have discussed this in other non gps forum but thought to make a new thread as it will cover more people now...

Thanks in advance!

Haven't had a chance to try it out / monitor it as much as you, but in limited tries so far, not very impressed. It is a couple miles off in Maps app on my current location more often than not and location-aware apps seem slow to pick up current location properly ...

Always worked fine when I'm outdoors. Even worked well when I was stuck in traffic in my car.

When the triangulation wasn't working as well was in a mall and in my apartment. Still, I haven't had the 5 minute load times you speak of the choppiness.

Same here. I cant get the map to stop searching for my location as long as im indoors but in the car, it works.

Even when I'm indoors, the triangulation is bigger - like the v1 Google Maps.

GPS has worked perfectly for me so far using EDGE and 3G.

I live in a 3G area but I used it last night as I drove home from Blockbuster. It worked fine updating as I drove. I finds me find sitting in my house as well. I'll try it again when I 'm out today.

When you are indoors, you likely aren't able to receive the GPS signal. When that happens, the iPhone goes back to the V1-style cell/WiFi triangulation.

As far as an error of 50-100 feet - that's reasonable for GPS.
