I read the bug fix where, you need to turn off 3G then go to maps then back to settings and turn 3G back on, however it only SOMETIMES works and is a real pain.
Does anyone else have this issue? Is there a fix in the works? The whole map app seems poorly designed. It is hard to clear it (drop pins) and seems to not always go to the blue dot and sometimes just does the "old non-3g" gps where it gives you just a general area.
I understand there is an APP in development that will load golf courses and through the app+GPS you will be able to see your distance to the hole. The proximity does not seem to be accurate enough for that.
The GPS works very well for me as well. I've only had my 3G for a week though. As long as I'm not in a large building with multiple floors, I can get a signal.
GPS has worked 99.9% of the time for me, and is within approx. 10-20 feet every time, which is HIGHLY accurate for such a simplified GPs tool. Great for getting yourself un-lost while on the go. It works quick, if in good 3G range. Still works adequately with Edge. (The handheld GPS units are pimp...the ones that locate you to the SPOT. I miss mine (broke it while camping years ago....long story, horrible end).

1. I don't have that problem.
2. I rarely use Google Maps for real-time GPS. I have other programs like AirMe, Distance Meter, and Loopt. I also have turn-by-turn GPS in my car already.
3. The accuracy of the GPS can be skewed by tall buildings. You need a straight shot to the satellites. On a golf course, it's more likely that your GPS will be more accurate. Unless it's broken.
I read if your outdoors and not getting a gps postion then turn off your location services then turn on wifi and then go into maps and then it will ask you do you want to turn location services on, so turn this on and bingo you get a gps postion.
