You can use Exchange or anything else you wanna use on the personal $30 plan without paying the higher rate.
Good to know as I was wondering about that since I use Exchange on my $30 plan.

I find this funny. They are trying to offset costs because most people who have exchange get a ton of emails a day so they are wanting to charge more. I don't get as much as most of the higher ups do. So they put the two versions there hoping most people will pay them for the more expensive plan. Yet there are probably some people who get just as much personal email.

I'm using an exchange account with push email, calendar and contacts on a personal plan and it works just fine.

Same here.....I used the Outlook Web Access information and everything works beautifully on the personal data plan.

I am able to use exchange with calender, mail and contacts with the $30 personal data. However, I am no longer able to connect to intranet at my work place. Apparently there have been restrictions put in place and my guess is ATT is responsible.

I am completely dumbfounded by AT&T's ability to answer a simple question regarding the difference between the personal and business plans. I don't believe there is ANY difference. I have spent the last 12 days calling AT&T asking someone to answer this...
it is NOT true that your push email will only work on the business plan. They also tell me if my email is behind a firewall... you need the business plan. BullHoooeeey...!

I have heard everything from these people... from you need to purchase our AT&T's enterprise server, to if you are a corporation you require the bus plan to get your email.

i think this requires a class action law suit...

any comments?

LOL...a class action law suit?

I'm going to make this really simple for you:

If you have a personal account that you pay for out of your own pocket, then you get a personal plan, regardless of whether or not you're accessing work e-mail.

If you're a company with a business account, then you get a business plan.

This isn't anywhere near as complicated as everyone is making it.

did you ever figure out why you could not connect to your intranet?

just curious.

The lack of ethics and widespread negligence is the fact that AT&T is taking advantage of the technically challenged... they are representing a differentiation between two plans that they cannot explain, and (until they can tell me otherwise) does not exist.

So, there are people out there that have the "business plan" that don't really need it... but, they purchased it in good faith being advised by AT&T employees...

when i originally tried to sign up for an iphone, they told me that I "required" the business plan in order to use my OWN company email.

Even apple support was unaware of ANY reason why there are two plans.

this is similar to what AT&T does with residential land line customers that are doing business from their homes... charge them more for being in business... just because they are able to get away with it.

I have spoken with various at&t people in various "technical" departments, and they all share the same ignorance... they can't explain the difference between the two plans.

it might be better to wait until AT&T's contract with Apple expires (this summer?)...

I have a personal data plan ($30) and tried to setup MS Exchange e-mail on my phone and it doesn't work. Am I doing something wrong or is it my workplace that needs to upgrade something to support the iPhone?
