Default Do you recommend Apple store or AT&T store to purchase new iPhone?

Is there any advantage to purchase the new iPhone at an Apple store or an AT&T store? Both are convenient for me. Which store do you think will be better organized with smaller lines on July 11, 2008? I don't really want to camp out but would like to buy the phone early in the morning if possible.

Are there other advantages or disadvantages to one store or the other?

Thanks for your help.

Hobie.

Yes, the Apple Store will have a TON more stock. I waited in line at the AT&T store last year and within in hour they were out of the 8gb model. I thought I had missed out. Later that night at like 11pm I decided to call the Apple Store just to see if they had any still, basically more as a joke. They said that there had been a huge line and they had sold a lot but there were still plenty left. I say take your chances at the Apple Store, unless it is really far away or something.

Normally, I'd say the Apple Store... just for the experience, and for the stock. This year, however, I'm not sure. With in-store activations, I would skip the hype and go to AT&T. Something tells me there will be fiascos in Apple stores this time around... just a guess...

I am with Dave on this one. Unless Apple Stores are going to have trained ATT employes on the site, I would go to ATT. You will get questions answered faster and most likely get in and out much faster.

I think AT&T stores will have more stock this time round. Better off going to them. in case you have any problems.

I got my iPhone at an AT&T store last time to avoid the crowds and everything and I'll be doing the exact same thing year. Even though there are 2 Apple stores within 15 minutes of me I think that AT&T is going to be better prepared to assist with the actual plans that we're going to need to use.

My brother and I have one AT&T store scoped out, and we have two or three go-to Apple Stores in the area in case of problems.

i dont know guys, how hard is it to set up a phone. All the apple reps, have to do is activate the phone. you go home, if you have a problem, im sure u can contact att and get it fixed.
So its for sure now that apple will start to sell at 8am? or 9am depending on when the mall opens.?

other than that, there is no difference between stores except for the flashiness of the apple store and stock amount....
Im just going cause i have that $100.00 store credit that I will try to use to get the phone. they should take it....

That credit is for in-store Apple purchases, so you should have no trouble using it for the iPhone 3G.
