Bypass Password

Hey there. well long story short, i was drunk one night and changed my password on my fone, and i cannot remember at all! anyway to bypass this? ive heard the emergency call - double tap home button but it doesnt work. can anyone help me out?

it says to plug it in the comp and select it from itunes and then restore it, but if its plugged in and itunes loads up. a message comes up saying "itunes cannot connect to iphone because it is locked / password protected"
