Default Buying an extra iphone 3g?

Just wondering I have the iphone v1. I know I am going to purchase the new 3g iphone, but was wondering about buying a second phone. I know I can get one 3g iphone because I am an iphone owner now. But what about a second phone? I am not eligible for an upgrade or anything. Is this possible?

I thought I saw where you could buy up to 3 phones. Now that may have changed.

i was the one who said you could get three phones, the only problem with buying more than one for yourself is that every phone you buy as to be activated to a 2 year contract with att or you cant take them out of the store

The phone needs to be activated at the time of purchase in order to get the subsidized price of 199 or 299. You can buy more at the full price without signing a contract, I believe up to 3 total iphones. Most customers are also eligible to have more than 1 line on their account. Family plans allow up to 5 lines, at roughly an additional cost of $10 per line (look at family plans at www.att.com).

you cant get iphones without a contract, at least not yet anyway, if you could that would be an easy loop hole for unlocking iphones and the whole point of the in store activation is to stop iphones from being used out side of att
