Default about family plan on iphone 3G

Hi Guyz,

I saw the minimum plan for Iphone 3G is 700 mins $69.99 for two lines.
I am an AT&T customer on family plan with 550 mins, $59.99 for two lines.
One of the phone is palm treo and I am already paying $30 for the data per month.

I want to stick with the same voice plan of 550 mins and the data plan on the 3G is also going to be the same $30. Can I keep my current family voice plan or would I be asked to choose the minimum of 700 minutes.

Please let me know.

Thanks !

Good question. Not really sure, but you should be able to stick with your current voice plan because only one line is going to the iphone. Now if both lines were going to the iphone then you probably would have to go to the 700 min. plan since the 550 isn't offered.

You should feel lucky you even had the option for the 550 minutes because they don't even offer that plan here. Now that I'll get the new iphone I won't feel cheated since no one can get it for less than the 700 minute plan, which was the minimum plan offered here no matter what phone you had.

So according to you, I would not be able to stick with my voice plan of 550 mins and would have to move too 700 mins plan ?

Thanks !

I just got off the phone with an AT&T CS rep. He said that i some parts of the country, the 550 mins plan still is available, its just that its not available. I was in upstate NY earlier where even right now, the 550 mins plan is available.

However, I moved to NJ now and wasnt sure since NJ doesnt show the 550 min plan. The CS rep said that even though it doesnt show up, you should be able to stick with the voice plan. The only thing is the data plan would change. She said even though the amount($30) is going to be the same, the plan would change since its for iphone.

Thanks !

I think this is going to be the case. Like I said, if you were switching both phones to the iphone then because of new contracts you would need to go to the 700 plan. But you have one phone on the 550 so it should be good to go.

You should be able to keep your current voice plan without any problem. At&t doesn't even advertise the $59.99 family talk plan anymore, but you should be grandfathered in without a problem.

I have the FamilyTalk Nation 550 plan for $59.99 and it is still an option on the AT&T site: http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-pho...hone-plans.jsp

So, I think you should be paying the same amount for the same amount of minutes you currently have. You'll just have to pay an $18 upgrade fee.

But they don't even mention that plan on their iphone release plans. That was my point. I too think he'll be just fine though.

Frankly, perhaps AT&T wanted people to think the 700 minute plan was the lowest. Greedy buggers...
