Default $500 Deposit sucks.

I just found out I have to put down $500 deposit, since I'm a new AT&T customer with no credit.

Anyone know of a way to lower this or get rid of it?

I'm already trying to establish good credit but that takes time.

How old are you? If you are still under your parents care, you could have them sign up for you.

I'm 19 and doubt they would want to put it under their name, is it possible to have someone "co-sign" but the account be in my name?

Do you have a relative (with good credit)who would sign up with you on the account?

Yes, I posted that above probably at the same time as you.

You don't want to do this. Bad idea. Co-signing almost always has a bad ending.

No you cannot "co-sign" for a cell phone account. They can put it under thier name and add you as an authorized user, but it wont help you build your credit or anything. Its just a name on an account.

Just pay the deposit, youll get it back in a year of good payments, and it will be your account.

wow that sucks... I'm also 19 and the first time I went to get an iPhone all I did was hook it up in iTunes and put in my credit card number, I guess that counts as having credit....
but luckily I just retuned it a couple days afterwards (when they had the price drop) and upgraded the phone that I already had under my parents family plan.. and it was A LOT cheaper this way...
