Is the deposit something that can be negotiated? I know someone who works at an ATT store, do you think they could waive the deposit or lower it?

no either you pass or fail the credit check, if you pass then no deposit, if you fail $500 automatic, had a long conversation with a rep this morning, this is why my friend isn't getting the 3g

Yeah, but based on the current economic climate, the $500 will be worth less than the $500 that you initially put down. So, you'll be worse off.

it'll still be nice to just get $500 out the blue kinda like finding a 20 dollar bill in some old jeans but 25 times better lol

I agree. Even if it is worth $450 next year, $50 isn't a bad price to pay to be able to buy and use an iPhone 3G when you have no credit.

plus the next gen iphone is expected to be released in a year so that money could go towards another upgrade, it'll seem free to you a year from now lol

When are accounts available for equipment upgrades? Is it after one year, or 18 months?

im just assuming they'll let current iphone owners upgrade again, but i think you get full subsidized upgrades at 18 months and partial up grades anytime after your first 6 mounths
