If I had $500 laying around I would. I expected this to only be $200-300 so thats what I budgeted, and I have no phone right now so this sucks.

Not really anything you can do except see if your parents will set up the account for you. IF they won't, then you're out of luck. Do your parents use at&t? A family talk plan would be a good choice if they do.

im confused about this whole depost thing. I went to an apple store yesterday and asked him about the deposit for new customers and he had no clue what i was talking about. Will i have to ask at&t about this deposit because I was thinking of signing up to a two year contract AT an apple store.

The deposit depends on your credit rating. Anytime you sign up for a post paid cell phone account, they run a credit check. IF your credit check comes back low, then you will probably have to pay a security deposit. It can be as high as $500 or as low as $200; it just depends on your credit rating.

IF you want to let at&t run the credit check in advance, just stop by and let them do that. They can give your a reference number after the credit check that you can use on the 11th to cut down on the amount of time it takes to buy your new iphone 3G.

definitely helps, but will i be able to bring this reference number to apple or only at&t?

id recommend getting a gas card from a gas station
use it and then write a check to the card people paying off everything you use until you go get the iphone. if you are paid in full on the card then it will give you some credit anyway...
