Smile I think I may be addicted....

... to my Iphone, and I haven't even gotten it yet

Hello, everyone! I'm Diya and I preordered my new Iphone 3GS (16 G) in black last week and have been absolutely obsessed with learning about my new toy ever since. I think my hysteria will settle down once I have the thing in my hands (praying for friday to come quickly!), but in the meantime I thought I would join this forum of folks who share my enthusiasm!

I have some questions about text messaging applications that I wasn't sure of the appropriate place to post. If there are some kind, patient users out there willing to help out an anxious newbie, please reveal yourselves! To everyone else, I look forward to seeing ya around on the forum! Thanks!

Welcome Diya. If you haven't done a search on your text messaging applications questions I would suggest you do that first. That should take you down the right path.

Thanks for the welcome

I have done quite a bit of searching on this forum and elsewhere, but I guess I'm looking more for testimonials from experienced users. Basically, I'm not planning to have a texting plan through AT&T because I don't text *that* much, so I wanted to know what the best free texting apps were. I'm also a little confused as to how someone initiates a text convo with you, if you're using one of these free apps, since I hear many of them don't give you an actual number to send to? Then it would just go through the normal SMS and charge you for it, right? I dunno...

Welcome fellow Indiana person. LOL! You will learn alot here. The people here are some of the best and always are willing to help.

As for the texting, my advice is to just get a texting plan. You will find yourself texting more and more.

Besides, I beleave the iPhone data plan comes with some texting included. I THINK. I have unlimited so i'm not sure.

Welcome to the forum. I'm new as well and I'm loving this site so far. I haven't been able to put my iPhone down since I got it.

Thanks again, everyone . And, Tate- After using the phone for almost a week now, I think I have a routine that will work for me regarding SMS. Thanks for your suggestions!
