I just picked up my iPhone (8gb) tonight from the Apple store in Chicago. I must say, this phone blows away my Q. After a year my Q is looking pretty rough...

Anyway, I just wanted to check in and I hope to contribute to this forum going forward.

Hey Chris, it's good to see ya. When I got my new iPhone today I immediately checked to see if you had a EiP site. EQ was a huge help for me getting started with my Q last year.

Former EQ user here as well. Dont miss the Q a bit and cannot put the iPhone down! I only got the 4 GB model though, I'm thinkng i may need to switch to the 8 Gig before my 14 days to return it are up.

Yeah, you will probably want to exchange it. I have all of my iTunes library on my iPhone now and I can get 5 television episodes on there as well... and still have about 3 gig left over... that means I can pretty much use it to replace my iPod 5G for my daily commute on the train. I don't think the 4GB version would have given me this ability.

I agree, my Q is good and I still have it for another year. I can't give the Q up right now because the iPhone doesn't support my Exchange calendaring and other features I really need for work. I also can't tether my iPhone to my Macbook like I can with my Q and get wireless connectivity on my train ride each morning.

Hopefully the iPhone catches up before my year contract with Verizon is up.

yeah i miss the Q for the Exchange features and the volume like you say is definitely loud. I didn't like playing music or video through the scaled down windows media player it had. i also miss being able to customize my phone. I put to use alot of the registry hacks from the EQ page and being able to load NES roms onto the Q. But the thing I could not get past was the sluggishness of the Q, even when i had all tasks closed in the task manager and the atrocious battery life. That thing sucked power worse than my ex wife sucked money out of my bank account!

I've progressively given up more and more business functionality for gadgets. If I were practical, I would still be using a Blackberry. When I switched to the Q I lost some of the email / calendaring functionality and the LDAP look-ups (which hurt). But I adapted and became used to the Q... aside from the crashes and the case looking like it's been through a war zone.

Now that I am in love with the iPhone I've given up all Exchange functionality, which is forcing me to keep my Q going until they come out with some sort of business solution. It seems Apple is always light on their support for corporate users... Hopefully they'll see the huge benefit to supporting more Exchange services as it will seriously expand the number of potential customers. The day the iPhone came out our IT department sent an email warning us all that the iPhone will not be supported by our Exchange servers and that there was no work around yet. That was a huge turn off to 90% of us, but the rest of us early adopters/phone freaks ran out and picked them up anyway.

If they get the Exchange support up to snuff and add some other features via software patches like video support for the camera, I can imagine this phone will have very little competition for some time in the marketplace.

I do miss the ability to hack my Q and wish I could hack my iPhone or at the very least install 3rd party apps. I'm sure as time progresses they'll be hacks to the OS that will open things up for us.
