Default Office 2008 Mac or Office 2003 PC

I am purchasing my first iMac for my home. I use Office 2003 on my PC where I work. I do a lot of spreadsheets in Excel and letters in Word. Occasionally I will e-mail Word and Excel documents to my home PC so I can work on them there. My question is should I purchase the 2008 Office for the Mac or when I utilize Boot Camp, just install my 2003 Office PC version on the partitioned Windows side? Thanks for your input!

If you can find an affordable version of 2008 Office, that is the clear choice. I've never had an issue sharing Excel documents. Obviously, there are a host of advancements from 03' to 08'.

The Mac version of Microsoft Office is waaay different, but I like it better. I am on an iMac and I've only owned PC's my whole life and I am more than happy with it. I think it cost me around $120 for Microsoft Office for Mac, but you can download a torrent for it for free

Office '08 will be just fine UNLESS you utilize macros. Office '08 does NOT support them.

I'm new to Mac's. Been using one since October. I noticed in the Keynote that Snow Leopard will cost $30. That's very reasonable. About how often (on average) do they come out with new version that isn't a free upgrade?

(for OSX) started out at about 5 months, but has gradually risen to two years.

I'm talking about 10.x.0 upgrades... i don't know if they charged for all of them or not.

+1 one on Office 2008 being OK. Ive not had many problems except when a teacher gives instructions for 2007 and I have to spend time figuring it out on the mac. I think the format is similar to that of Office 2003. Don't do macs pages and numbers etc. I have a terrible time with formatting problems and I have the newest one. I hope they come out with a new office soon that is closer to the PC version.
