Default Volume Booster

Is there a software that I can use to boost the volume of a .mp3 format file?, for Mac OS X thanks.

I believe garageband can do that, can't it?

In iTunes, select the song, Get Info (command-I), and select the Options tab. You'll see a volume slider you can use to boost or cut volume by up to 100%. You can also try playing with the EQ presets.
