I'm trying to play my voicemails and when I try to tap on the play button, the screen goes black and nothing happens. Comes back within a couple of seconds, but what the heck is going on?
Jailbreak 1.1.2 iPhone, not quite 1 week old. No other problems so far.
When you play them, do you hold them up to your head or cover the top part of the phone?
If so, you are covering the light sensor. What it does is, while messages are playing or a call is active, emits infrared light and detects when things are close to it. When they are, the screen goes black so that your face doesn't start touching things on the screen.
Nope, I'm not tilting the phone or covering the light sensor in any way. I hold the thing normally in my hand, tap on messages and the screen turns off and then back on.
I thought it might be an installer.app so I deleted several, including the voice recording app. Still does the black screen thing.
