Stolen iPhone - Help Me Solve the Mystery

I NEVER leave my iPhone or iPod unattended in my office. I take a moment to either lock them in my file cabinet or put it in my pocket. I assume that everyone around me is a thief. I recommend getting yourself another iPhone and getting an insurance policy on it. Sounds like State Farm is happy to insure them and my Farmers rep covered mine.

I, too, don't think it's stolen and find it very unlikely for a thief to leave it on but turn off email checking.

I think it's most likely that you dropped the phone somehow. I think the phone was on but without good reception so it couldn't check email. Also, because it couldn't check email and had absolutely zero use (except you calling it), it lasted longer than it ever did with you.

So my money would be on it sitting somewhere you've been that day, in the office or outside, hidden from view.

Also, cars are great places for such things to hide (e.g., under the seat). You didn't mention going to your car during that time, but did you check anyway?
