Does the volume problem only occur during phone conversations or is it also affecting the iPod volume?

If rebooting doesn't fix it, you may want to restore it. If that doesn't work, make an appointment at an Apple store.

This is probably a stupid and unnecessary question, but have you used the volume adjustment button on the left side side of the iPhone?

They probably don't realize thats as loud as the iPhone will go. The iPhone is SH!? for sound. I barely here my phone ring and playing the iPod music through the speakers? Not even worth doing its so quiet. An issue I HOPE has been improved in the new phone.

My speakers are fine. Sometimes my ringtone is TOO loud. But, I've never had a problem. The iPhone is not a boombox, however, and I didn't expect it to be that loud anyway.

That's why I'm hoping the new phone will be better than my previous. Maybe I just had an unlucky one?

Cloverfield, I agree with you about the speaker, but remember we're V1ers. The 3G speaker got a LOT louder and clearer, and I'm hoping the 3GS continues that tradition because it's a feature I'm very much looking forward to.

Ahh, I wasn't sure if the speakers were improved in the 3G. That's good to know!
