Default Sorry for newb question, is it possible to backup up 2 phones and swap data?

Ok here is my situation. Currently my wife has a 1st gen iPhone and I bought a 3G last July. I am getting the new 3Gs, but in order to save money I had to upgrade her phone since it qualified for the $299 price. So we are then going to swap my number to the new phone and her number to my 3G and then have a 1st gen as a paperweight.

But I need to backup the Contacts, Browser Favs, Photos, Music etc for each phone separately so once we swap phone numbers I can put my old data on the new phone and she can put her 1st Gen data on the 3G.

Hope I havent lost you? Thanks for any help,
Griff

Yes, in iTunes each phone has it's own ID name that you give them. Save each phone backup. Then when you do a restore backup you select which backup you want to go to each phone.

I have 2 phones, one for me and one for my son, each is saved and backed up and when updating apps he has his own like I have my own. So when the 3.0 comes out he gets my 3g with his info on it and I get my 3g into the 3GS.

So I was just reading on here about selling unlocked phones on eBay. I have never unlocked a phone, but once we get the new phone do you think it is worth it to unlock the 1st gen phone and sell it??
