Question software recommendations for mac

so I just made the switch from pc to mac. I just ordered the 2.4 GHZ 15.4" MacBook Pro yesterday. The earliest that I'll get it will be apr 2 but no later than the 4th. I'm very excited. I was wondering if all you current mac users would have recommendations of free software to download. Thanks!

I'm on my iPhone right now, and the list I have is too much to type on here. I'll post it when I'm back at the Mac.

i suggest you get familiar with torrenting, it will make your mac so much more fun, any app under the sun will only cost you $0.00!
I have an external drive with about 87 programs right now, all of which i paid $0, saving me tens of thousands of dollars.
Im not telling you to pirate, but hey, why not? if i dl an app and i really like, i might pay for it, example, i downloaded Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core, for the psp, love it so much, i went and bought the real deal to support the devs. I aint about to give apple $1500 for final cut studio 2, or Adobe $$$$ for CS3 tho

Yes, it is. My copy for the pc and mac cost me 0, and would have cost me 600 dollars or more. I like your avatar, BTW.

While they are expensive, they're also wonderful applications. You should consider paying developers for their work.

Anyway, off to my list. These are in no way ordered or categorized.

Cyberduck
Permanent Eraser
Wavepad
GIMP
Songbird
Chicken of the VNC
iToner
Copernicus
Snapz Pro X
Quicksilver
Handbrake
FinalCut Studio
Toast
Apple Remote Desktop
AppZapper
LoginWindow Manage
Stuffit Expander
Growl
Most of the default Apple applications
Audio Hijack Pro
WireTap Studio
CandyBar
FileJuicer
MacJanitor
MacTheRipper
Skype
Audacity
Ziplight

And several, several more.
