Default problem syncing contacts

hey ya'll,
so when i sync my iphone, the numbers on the iphone that are not in outlook disapear. I want to add the numbers from the phone to outlook, but every time i connect, if the contacts change on the iphone to match outlook. how can i add the new numbers from the iphone to my outlook?

There should be an option that pops up asking if you want to merge the contacts or if you just want to transfer the contacts from the PC to your phone. Have you seen an option similar to this?

no i havent. where and when would that pop up? I can be on the look out. Also, what should i mark if it does come up?

It should come onto the screen when you choose to Sync your Info tab in iTunes. If you do see this option then choose to MERGE the contacts and that should add the contacts from Outlook to the ones already on your phone.

ok thanks, but does that take the numbers from the iphone and put them on outlook as well.
