Mail features?

At the bottom of the iPhone it has a mail icon. What mail do you have to have for that to work. I have gmail.

Gmail works with the mail application. Open Mail, and tap the Gmail icon. From there, enter your email , password, etc. Also make sure "Enable POP" is checked under your setting on the Gmail page on Google.

but do i ahve to be at a wi-fi spot to use the mail widget.

if you're on an iphone, you can pick up mail through AT&T's edge nework. the iPod Touch will require a wifi signal.
