If I'm not mistaken, Farmville (not sure about the other) is a flash game. If that's truly the case, until iPhone gets flash in Safari, there's no other way.
It is a flash game and I doubt well see flash anytime soon in safari but zynga created farmville/farmtown so hopefully it will be a app like mafia wars
I'm gonna regret admitting this, but I do play Farmville on my iPhone. I remote into my desktop PC and it's pretty good when on wifi. Usable on 3G though slow--but better than letting your crops die.
I used to use a free RDP client but then bought a decent one which was like night and day. It cost about $10 but I use it for work too.
I also play Mafia Wars via RDP since the iPhone app version is lame by comparison. MW is much more responsive via RDP than FV.

Did you get up in the middle of the night just to tend to the farm again, London?
lmao i set mine so i can check it right before i leave for work, when i get home from work and right before bed. anything else throws me off and then it dies.
I plant crops based off my schedule. If i kno im going to be home all day, then ill plant crops that are hourly. Some are 2,4,6,8,12,16 hours. All other crops are 1 day, or 2-4 or even 5 days.
When i go to bed, ill plant a 12 hour or 8 hour crop when i go to sleep. When i wake up, it'll be ready for harvest. If i know i wont be at my computer for a long period of the day, ill plant another 8 hour crop, or 16 hour crop or even a 1 day crop.
