iPhones in vehicles.

So I'm thinking that Automakers ought to start incorporating cell tech into vehicle design alot more than they have so far. one thing i would welcome is a way to link your phone to your car and have the screen show up on the dash or steering wheel. no more fumbling round lookin for that ringing phone. then you could see who's calling just as it would appear on your phone. and answer it either by voice or tapping your steering wheel. anyway else have any ideas?

oh i just thought. it would be neat if when you got a text it would read it aloud with audio. and then you could dictate a response which it would put into text. yeah. then all the bases are covered.

im sure through bluetooth technology they could incorporate caller id, on the fancy cars where the gauges are reflected in the windshield! (If they don't already do that). I have seen some design concepts where they have docks for the iphone to sit in the dash, flush with the dash. I don't remember which car manufacturer it is though....

I like the phones where the texts are read aloud. Only for the purpose of being childish and have people send you vulgar texts, and laugh as the phone reads them

Man I hate to be "that guy" but there are just more and more and more accidents every year because of ... well, let's just say inconsiderate folks that think that talking to their friends or reading/writing a text is more important than the lives of everyone else around them. It's a huge pet peeve of mine. Put the damn phone in your pocket for a few minutes till you get there safely.

And I know all this technology is supposed to help keep your eyes on the road... but it's all a distraction! I just avoid the phone as much as I can when driving. Seriously, is it that important?

Even if I ignored cliche and only went by my experience..... EVERY SINGLE PERSON i see on the road who is bobbing and weaving and generally making me go "wtf?" invariably is doing something with their mobile. Every time

Yep, I have had a couple close calls with people almost rear ending me because they were tailgating while texting/talking. I also almost got taken out completely by a woman who drove through a red while blabbing away on her cellphone. She probably didn't even know that she almost killed somone. It is really annoying now when I see that. I really hate using the phone while Im driving, so I keep it short, or dont answer at all.
