iPhone problem: Applications crash

I got the 8gig iPhone on Saturday and experienced that applications shut down sometimes. For instance, I was browsing the web and listened to music, and after a while the music just shut down. In another instance I was using google maps on the iPhone and at some point it just turned black and I was returned to the main screen. Anyone having the same issues?

I can only surf the web for about 4-5min or listen to half a song, or do google maps for about minute before it crashes - its pretty annoying. I thought it was the ATT slow ass network, but it crashed at my local hotspot too, but it did hold up longer...

Don't get me wrong, I love my iphone, but have to admit I was so close to returning it when it crashed and returned me o the home screen when I played with maps. As a last resort I decided to completely shut it down and turned it back on a good 45 minutes later. . .that was day one. I've had it for 7 days now and it's worked perfectly. No crashing! Yay. I'm hopeful that it stays like this. After all, apple has never let me down.

I think you must have a defective phone. Mine has not exhibited any of those issues. It is trouble free.

I reinstalled the software and it works fine now

Reinstalled what software exactly?

I'm having the same problem. I'll zoom in on a location, and WHAM! back to the main menu.

I tried a "reboot", but no luck there. I may try the "off" for an hour.

Honestly, I think this is a software problem.

Anyone else with this issue?

I am having the EXACT same problem. I am running an app, everything's running smoothly, then WHAM, back to the main screen, or WHAM, into a wholly different application.
The only time I've ever been able to replicate this problem on demand is using the maps feature. I enter in a start and end point, go to the map view, and moving anywhere off the default field of vision (zooming in or out, or moving in any direction), it does it.
So I made 2 videos, one shows the drop to the mainscreen, and the other one depicts jumping into my contacts list. I know the videos aren't spectacular quality, but I assure you there's no trickery and I did try to keep the entire phone in the cameras' view.

Very embarassing when this happens and you're showig it off to someone.
It does get better after a restart but still embarassing!!!
Also I am having problems with the album art on ipod mode, some do not match the artist or song, they seem to be somewhat scrambled.
And my marshmellow earphones won't work with the iphone.

I was having the same problem with Maps (and other issues with Maps as well). I went to
settings -> general->reset->reset settings (but keep data)

This fixed the problem for me.
