iPhone problem: Applications crash

Yup, it's happening to everyone. Many of the applications are unstable right now. I crash the iPod feature all the time while surfing the web. I also crash the Google Maps app all the time when plotting courses and doing turn by turn directions. I'm hoping they release an update soon to at least address the instability issues.

I had the same isssue while in Maps and Safari. Working along and "POOF", back to the main screen. I visited the local "genious bar" and they reloaded the software. Day three now, no "POOF".....stay tuned!

I was having the same issue as well, and tried everything to fix my APP crashing problems, including soft reset. As a last resort, I completely re-installed the software while hooked up to iTunes, and lost all my data in the process. After I rebooted the iPhone, and loaded Google Maps, the software would still crash, namely Google Maps, Safari, and the iPod would also turn off when Google Maps crashed.

So I called Apple, and they sent me a loaner iPhone. Meanwhile, I tried one more thing...I noticed my SIM card drawer at the top stuck out a little more than my wife's iPhone. So I ejected the SIM card using a paper clip, wiped off the contacts, and reinserted it in my iPhone.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!! No more crashes in Google Maps. The occasional browser crash. But nothing like before.

I believe the issue was SIM card related in my case.

Take the phone back to Apple if there is a store in your area. If you don't have a store nearby, call the Apple support line. If you go to the store, go visit the Genius Bar.

This is definitely not normal. The phone either needs to be reinitialized (which can be done through iTunes), or it has a defective part that is causing this. Apple support will work with you.

Note: If you get a new phone, remember to first remove the SIMM from your current phone before giving it back to Apple.

i'm beginning to think i never should have bought one... this thing is really starting to disappoint me
