Count me as one. I'm finding it funny that others have taken this seriously and I suspect the OP is having a good laugh as well

Default "found" iphone

I used to work for AT&T, all you have to do is take the phone to ANY AT&T store and they can pull up the owner by the phone number. You weren't trying hard enough to find the owner or you stole it.

tsk tsk tsk

Yeah, if it still had battery and wasn't locked, you could've called someone on the contacts lists and asked them if they knew the person and have them pick it up for them. If not, AT&T Store would be the best spot to leave it.

There are recovery services available, like the ones featured on dateline regarding the stolen ipods. It isn't too pricey. you can get the "REWARD. IF FOUND CALL..." sticker. Do a google search, there are a few to choose from. I am seriously looking into it myself.

I'm familiar with these. But I also think that, like every smartphone I've used, the iPhone should allow the user to customize the screen that shows up when locked with a message.

Default lets try being a little smarter

2 things you can do to find the owners phone number:

1). Download Itunes and get a cable and plug it in. It will let you see the owners Phone number. No Cable go to apple store.

2). Go to settings then to Iphone. it will display the owners #

It all seems simple now......

I have found several phones adn I have the owner of all of them. Last time I found a phone I was on vacation. I simply looked in the recent calls and started calling people explaining to them that i had found their friend's phone. I was even given $50 for finding the owner of the last one. Dont be a jerk, find the owner---stealing SUCKS!!!! (I recently had $2000 worth of stereo equipment and random junk out of my car...so yeah, I am a bit bitter) If you are a troll, so be it, get a good laugh. Whether you found the phone or not, keeping it is stealing to me.

I have some of these myself...they are ok, but the one I had on my Treo peeled off. I have it on all my expensive portable electronics though...a safe and good idea if the person that finds it is honest.
