As some of you might have noticed, we launched a new blog section here at EverythingiCafe. So what's the difference between the news found on the homepage and the blog? Simply put, the blog allows us to introduce new writers to the site and expand our coverage. Without getting too much into detail, the existing method of posting news was not very straightforward and didn't support a multi-writer format.
The blog component changes all of this. In the interim, you'll find the major news stories gracing the homepage. The blog will focus on smaller stories and will be updated more often. The blog allows us to expand our writing staff and our coverage. Over time, I expect the blog will converge with the homepage news, however we have a few technology hurdles to get over before that can happen. In the meantime, please accept my apologies for the fractured content delivery. I'm hopeful this will be resolved sometime in September.
Without further ado, I'd like to introduce the first writer to join team. Marianne, known in these parts as macgirl, will be a regular contributor to the EverythingiCafe blog. I've been a fan of her writing and I'm thrilled to have her on the team.
Expanding Our Staff
If you are interested in writing for Everything iCafe, we'd like to hear from you! If it's a one time "How to Guide" or a daily column, we are looking for volunteers to contribute to the site in our efforts to offer expanded coverage of the iPhone. This could lead to a paid position over time. Interested parties should use this contact form. Please include a brief overview of your experience, level of interest (daily, bi-weekly, one off article) and topics you'd live to cover. Please do not PM me regarding this position.
As many of you have noticed, there have been some pretty major changes to the forum over the past 24-36 hours. With most of the heavy lifting completed, I wanted to solicit feedback about a possible new feature here at EIC - Member blogs. These would be tied to the forum and allow members to blog about the iPhone, iPod touch or Mac related stuff. These would not be personal blogs and there would probably be guidelines for acceptable material. Despite being a personal blog about the iPhone, it would reside here at EIC. That in mind, the content needs to be at a certain standard. We can address the rules and guidelines if and the feature gets implemented.
First and foremost, I wanted to get your feedback. Would you utilize such a feature? What are your expectations? Would it have any adverse affect on your activity within the forums?
Thoughts, opinions, questions, suggestions.... fire away.
That's all you need. Something else to look after.
But to be serious, it is nothing I would be interested in. But I bet a lot of members here would be. It's just for me I would rather spend time in the forum.

I could blog about my daily use with the iPhone but I think unless I'm a programmer or something that I would be hard pressed to "blog" about the phone. Believe you me, I want to and think this is a good idea if it can incorporate my daily use...
Other than that, I'd only read technical data pertaining to the phone..

The forum is a much better avenue.. the blog.. well that would require you and the mods to check all the information in the blogs and don't you have ENOUGH to do? LOL... It's your choice it's your place.. I like it the way it is... but I'm just a moron that comes here and doesn't contribute crap to the place other than dead air space between my ears *Howling*

Personally, I don't really see myself using all these social networking additions... friends, blogs, etc. It's nice to have the features, I suppose... but it's all too myspace for me. No offense. It's just not why I come to this particular forum (well, I do come for the people, but I can interact just fine with them through the traditional forum facilities).

But that's just me.
That stuff is all standard vBulletin fare. These are features that are "there if you want them". The forum discussion will always be paramount to the other features. That being said, I've already taken in a few of the member photo albums and I have to say that's a cool feature.
I'm trying to think of the guy who was here before v1 launch, but left the site for some bizarre reason. I always enjoyed his posts and I think he's the type of guy who might be suited for the blogs. Question is....do we have enough interested parties to make it worthwhile.
Somebody help me out with his name. Guy took amazing pictures and he was a photographer.
