One guy said I would have to make an appointment with a "genius" but as he'd never heard of this issue, it was unlikely they'd do anything for me. This damn phone has NEVER been out of a protective case, has never been dropped or even slightly bumped and now this! It's only a couple months old for Chrissakes! I thought that bgy emailing Apple direct I may get better service...
wooossaaahhhh

relax. Deep breaths. There were problems with this before and they were fixed by Apple. I personally know someone who had the same problem with his phone with the hairline cracks and they swapped his phone out for him. They will not do the different color though, that I know for sure.
IF you do decide to go into an Apple Store my best advice is not to come across as angry or pissed off. I overheard a genius talking with a blue shirt guy and the genius said that they hate when pissed off customers come in for stuff that isn't covered and get more pissed when they tell them they won't replace it. The genius said that they are more receptive to nicer customers cause good customer service goes a long way.
If I were you, state you case like you just did, let them know of the hairline cracks and that it has been in a case and NOT been dropped and they should take care of you.

I had to same problem. Got a new one with no problem and it is doing the same thing. I think it is about 6 wks old and like most here, I don't abuse it. They just aren't made very well. Anyway, I didn't have an app. Just walked in and got it exchanged. You shouldn't have any problems except the new one might not be much better. lol

I strongly recommend making an appointment, it is hassle free.

its a common known defect. they will replace them right away you just have to have an appointment. i had one replaced and the one they gave me didnt work, but i had this one and its held out like a trooper till this past week its getting pretty touchy. i figured i may as well go get it taken care of before it completely quits working on me.

Juls, that problem happens a lot to MacBooks' chargers actually! Google Image and you'll see.

It got replaced tonight though the tech said they aren't suppose to swap them out. He asked to see my phone to make sure there wasn't anything wrong with it. You should have seen the smile he had when he say my lock screen with my apple slider.
