AppleCare Registration Annoyances
Since my wife and I have decided not to spring for new 3G phones, I purchased two AppleCare Protection Plans today from our local Apple Store. In attempting to register these plans on-line (yes, I still have a PC), the Apple web site hung up mid-registration. After waiting for about 15 minutes for the "Accept Terms and Conditions" portion to load, I gave up and called the 800 number. I (hope) successfully registered the two AppleCare protection plans but the entire registration process was fairly unpleasant, particularly when I suggested that something might be wrong with the Apple web site. Additionally, I was told that I could expect the receive verification of my protection plan in about two weeks via snail mail. Duh, what's wrong with E-Mail? While others might relish the opportunity to run home from the Apple store and register their AppleCare products on-line, my preference would have been to handle the entire process in the store since I had the phones, as well as the original sales slips for the phones. That would be customer service. At least give me the option of not dealing with a quirky web site (perhaps the Apple site could provide some instructions on how to handle web site problems encountered in the middle of the registration process) or a customer unfriendly telephone representative.
