An EIC experiment: Boot times
I propose an experiment. The procedure is below, and the format for your results are given. I appreciate any contributions to the effort.
1. Turn off your phone using the standard method: Press the lock button until the slide appears then slide to turn off. Do not do a "hard reset" 2. Turn your phone on and start counting 3. Note the time it takes until your home screen appears 4. Note the time it takes until your carrier logo and bars appear ____ Now, if you wouldn't mind, please submit your results in the following format: 1. iPhone type (V1 or 3G) 2. Firmware version 3. Jailbroken? If so, on a Mac or PC? 4. Time from power on to homescreen (in seconds) 5. Time from power on to carrier logo/bars (in seconds) Sorry to be so anal about it, but I think this might be interesting... My phone's syncing right now. I'll post mine later. |

2. 2.1 3. not JB 4. 33 seconds in "one onethousand" counting 5. instantly there with home screen 6. 53 non-pre installed apple apps.

2. 2.1 3. JB from Mac 4. 50 sec (to Passcode screen) 5. 50 sec (bars and logo appear on the Passcode screen) I also wonder if it has something to do with either the number of installed Apps or the number of items in the iPod. Mine is almost full of songs |

Stock 2.1 firmware 32 seconds everything was up Second test 31 seconds for home screen and just less than a second for At&t logo and signal. I think speed of logo and signal coming up are related to strength of the signal at the time of boot. I had 4 bars I believe, possibly 5

2. 2.0.1 (Houston=no power=no upgrade) 3. Not JB, PC 4. 57 5. 58 2 bars so I don't think the signal strength makes it speed up/slow down.
