I'm not really seeing much of a pattern here. Any more variables you guys can think of?

By the way, my 80 seconds was apparently a bad day. It boots up in almost exactly a minute pretty consistently these days.

Hmm... perhaps the inclusion or lack of custom boot/recovery in the firmware? A themed springboard or a stock one?

It looks to me like jailbreaking on Windows usually results in longer boot times. Not always, but usually.

I have new results.

1) 8 GB V1
2) 2.0.2
3) Not Jailbroken, PC
4) 93 seconds
5) 95 seconds
6) 2 (YES TWO) third-party apps installed

This minute and a half boot time is normal for me. It has been normal for all 3 of my iPhones. From firmware 1.0 to 2.0.2.

I'm working on upgrading to 2.1 now, but it took 3 hours last night to back up with iTunes 8 so I'm worried about a corrupt backup. I can not afford to lose my notes, bookmarks, etc. and I can't jailbreak this iPhone with the 2.0.2 firmware so I can't backup that way. And currently iTunes 8 isn't reading my iPhone.

Maybe it does have to do with how many apps you have. Maybe you should add how many apps do you have to the survey.

1. 8g v1
2. 2.1 (finally)
3. Finally JB, PC
4. 53
5. 53
6. 56 apps

Again, there seems absolutely no rhyme or reason to this:
2.0.2 firmware, 70+ apps, not jailbroken = 60 seconds
2.0.2 firmware, Two apps, not jailbroken = 90+ seconds.
2.1 firmware, 56 apps, JAILBROKEN = 50+ seconds

Completely arbitrary results. My iPhone just hates me. Maybe it's because I don't baby it. I use all 8 safari windows. I fill my phone up with bookmarks, notes, music, videos and applications and I actually use apps all day long. I use safari at least 3 hours a day. I actually USE my iPhone. It's not just an occasional toy for me. It's a tool that I rely on to get through the day. It's apparently both the reason why the phone is unstable and why it MUST be stable. I NEEEEED it to be stable. But the fact that I need it makes it unstable. Maybe it's the reason why I'm so pissed off at my iPhone so often.

Stupid Apple. Got it all backwards.
