First of all I would like to say hello. I am new to the forums here and Ill definitely be roaming around the site...
So my friend is selling an 8g Iphone for $300. It is unlocked and I am a T-Mobile user. The phone seems to work great but Im still a little bit skeptical after hearing all the stories about the phones turning into useless paperweight. So I just had a couple questions for any Iphone gurus...
How can I find out if the phone was unlocked correctly? Or is there only one way to tell (basically if it works)?
Does jailbreaking automatically occur when unlocking or is that a totally seperate application that needs to be done?
Itunes is one of my reasons for wanting the phone so bad. Im guessing you can plug it into your car if you have the right hookup?
Noob questions yea haha but gotta start somewhere...Thanks for all the help
welcome to EIC. You can very easily reunlock the phone if you wish. There is a one step proccess for jailbreaking and unlocking all at the same time. Turning the phone into a papper weight is more of a myth than truth.
Welcome to EIC, there are plenty of people here that are willing to help you out with the process of unlocking, jailbreaking or whatever you need! Be sure and perform a search before starting a new topic, many questions have already been answered looong ago.
Welcome to EIC. The Jailbreaking and Unlocking process has never been easier. Like the others said, it's a 5 minute process (if that) so you can restore and then unlock again with ease. The only words of advice I can offer would be to wait to update to the newest firmware (the firmware that comes after 1.1.4) until you know it is safe to upgrade with an unlocked phone.
Oh yea ill definitely wait on upgrading. I just didnt want to buy an iphone and accidentally lock it by putting music on it or something...and yes i will search around...
