It's been stated plenty of times. 3g coverage is poor in the US through AT&T. Those that argue differently either a) live in a 3g area, or b) travel to the major cities that have coverage.
Anyone living in the outskirts of a major metropolitan area have a 50/50 shot of using it, and it goes downhill from there.
I'm in the 50/50 bracket. I was using the Moto Q 9h and I rarely saw the 3G icon. Personally, I don't think they can hang their hat on 3G as the primary reason to upgrade.
As far as GPS is concerned, for "true" GPS, you have to pay an additional fee for a supported phone to use it.
I also own the Curve 8310 with GPS. However, I use a Garmin for that purpose.
All in all, I'm with you at .000.
