I think some of the animocity that people have about new phone is the simple fact that they dropped a lot of money on a phone and don't want their model to be obsolete. I recently purchased a 46 inch hd tv and 6 months later mine is already an old item. It happens. I need the Iphone to be more secure and to support more business applications. Just look at gizmodo.com and see how easy it is to get hacked. Regardless, I don't have an iphone but absolutely love it and its potential. I have no problem waiting a few more months. I truly believe the next update/model will have many more features. Cell phones are ever changing and evolving. This current version will not get them to their goal of selling 10 million as is.

I work for Apple and we will be brining out a new iPhone just before xmas.

    These are the specs:

    1 terrabyte storage
    7G (7 times faster than 3G)
    GPS built in
    Removable battery
Totally unlocked and can be used on any GSM carrier
Tell it what ringtone you want and it will download it free
    3rd party apps all free
Not locked into AT&T for 2 years
    Price will be $99.99

It's true, I work for Apple.

Soon after release, we will be releasing the satellite pack. You will be able to get DirectTV and Dish Network via your iPhone and also use it as a satellite phone.

It's true, I work for Apple.

I have a Nuvi 660 that was top of the line in January when I bought it at a cost of $900.00. Now there are at least 10 more Nuvi versions with various features and my version is selling for around $500.00 or less.

The Cell phone industry is a very fast moving market as you well know. Gaining market share from this industry is tough. Look at the upcoming competition. Everyone is working on a phone that mimics the iphone

Of course you know that we want to see pictures. Not of you but of the phone.

    I can't dude, it's top secret. NDA.

Even though most of the iPhone parts are European made, I still work for Apple and know these things.

There is one thing I can tell you. It's a brand new technology that we are putting into the next generation of iPhones. I will have to explain it, because you mortals will not understand the technical jargon.

You can take a picture with the camera, and send it to someone else. We will be calling it MMS. No one has thought of it yet and we will be the first to introduce it. This is like NASA stuff man.

I'm hoping for the DirectTv bit and hopefully with the SDK release we can get some Sling Player action. That'd be awesome.

This part of your post made me think of something else. I think Apple should sell their next version of iPhone with NO sim for those that want to upgrade; just swap the sim from iPhone 1 into 2.

I've been with Sprint for 8 years and none of the phones I've purchased required a sim. ESN swapping doesnt require another 2 year activation; so I'm more than curious to know how AT&T would handle that as well.

^^I completely agree. I think this would be the most fair way of allowing people to upgrade to the new iPhone (whenever that may be). Oh and surely there's going to be no sort of discount for previous owners.

I live in England and brought my iPhone on the day it came out. Im a long time Apple user, about 10 years but im afraid if they do release a new version this early i will seriously consider never buying from them again. If they release version 2 early next year, it will be a major slap in the face of the people who had to toil to afford the frankly idiotic contract.

Question : If they by some horrible misfortune they do release the new iPhone early next year, will i even be able to buy and use it on the contract i have. Or will i have to wait till the contract expires and then buy one, in 2009!!

Great forum you have here bw.
