This is a discussion on video chat - good or bad? within the Future iPhones forums, part of the Apple iPhone category; is video chatting really a good thing on a mobile device? think of all the truths you'll have to tell... ...
"It's GR-R-REAT!"
"I'd prefer not to."
"How did I get here"
is video chatting really a good thing on a mobile device? think of all the truths you'll have to tell...
Boss - stuck in traffic or stayed in bed?
Girlfriend - just left or just ordered 3rd round?
Mother - not feeling well or just pulled Michael Phelps-sized bong hits?
Refill my prescription
To whatever that thing is
That makes the carpet stop turning into snakes
i feel the same way... "im on the way", "let me see if there really is traffic"

I agree with the above and to add to it, I just don't like people staring at me while I talk to them via some electronic device. It makes me feel awkward. My wife insisted on having my web cam on while I was out of town working for a month. Though I'm glad it made her happy to see me I always felt weird.
I would like it to talk to my kids and husband, maybe my mom, but really no one else. I don't know if it would be worth it. I kind of thought we were really going to get this when this was a rumor in the V2 iphone and it never happened. But either way, for family maybe.
I think it would be cool to have, and to say we have, but I'd prefer to leave it with one camera on the back. I don't think I'd even use it that much, either.

I'd love to have video chat but would only use it with family and maybe close friends.
I'm still getting used to Skyping with a webcam. I'm sure it's the sort of thing that grows on you. I'd like to be the sort of person that can just hop in front of a camera at any point and be myself, but I'm not yet. I'm not even really a phone person, so it's a big step.

I wonder if we'll ever get to the world of Star Trek. Where looking and talking into a box is the same as doing so in person. What about data lag? We're talking AT&T, now. HSDPA. I think it would make more sense once LTE is rolled out. Everytime I'm on a VTC, I find the audio/video synch as well as pixelation due to data stream constraints more on the annoying side.
now yall know what my answer is..i been waitin' on this since day one...
