We will never see an actual smaller 'nano' sized iphone, but I can see cheaper versions with less hard drive space and with some features missing. On the NextGeniPhone thread Indy has been predicting that they will keep the current 8GB iphone and sell it at $99 beside the new iphones. I think that might be all we will ever see as an iphone nano. All applications are made to work on a 3.5" screen, so that would take a big reworking of apps and to have the app store detect whether you're on a normal or nano. It's just too much trouble when what they are currently using works and works well.
