Its just a photoshop. It even says it is.
It seems like the slider would slide out to the other side since they use that side for videos on youtube, or videos on the iPod, if this were real.

Also, I dont think it would have a full computer keyboard, and I think the icons would rotate too...

That would be pretty cool though.

I think making the iPhone a slider with a physical keyboard would be a huge mistake. It would make it too bulky and take away from the overall feeling and look of the phone.

...also, the purpose of the iPhone not having plastic keys, like Steve says.

His main point in not having those stupid keys was so you can always have the perfect buttons for each app, now if he had a slider iPhone, you could still design buttons for each app, exactly like how it is now, but when you are typing something then you can just slide out the keyboard and start typing.

I don't think this would be a good idea to be the only model available, but if this was a different model, like how we have the iPod Classic, and iPod nano, then I think it would work great. It would certainly make it a lot bulkier, but not to the point where it is ugly. The iPhone is already pretty thin for everything it has packed in. If you look at Verizon's enV, it is one of, if not THE, most popular phone they have and it flips out with a full keyboard, and it is pretty bulky. Wouldnt a slide-out keyboard be just as bulky if not thinner?

I think it could be successful if they make a quality keyboard atleast
Cause with my HTC the keyboard was really stiff and felt of quailty when I first got i, but now the it slides with not much of any push or force and the keys feel really sloppy now

If Apple can find a way to keep the keyboard of quality without too much possibility of tear or peeling(Like the sidekick 2) then it could suceed
-But like others have said the iPhone is fine how it is

. . .BTW did you guys notice that the comments at crackerry were quite positive
-They were generally saying good things about it, and some even wanting to ditch their blackberry haha! As I was reading some of the comments I was thinking inthe back of my head that if this was the other around the comments would have been so defensive towards Apple and alot of flaming going on haha!

Ha, that's the MacBook's keyboard thrown on there.

But, no, I can't see it. Apple hates buttons. Jobs hates buttons. The virtual keyboard is here to stay, and I like it that way.

There's no doubt that it's a photo mockup. Story even says so. But the content does tie into this story, referencing an original article from The Register. According to it, the reason is to "further penetrate the enterprise market where physical keyboards are the norm."

I can't think of why Apple wouldn't have played with the idea of a physical keyboard, but, if true, I'm impressed that they have actually gone so far as to generate a prototype (of which that's not a photo!).

What would be in the slider part since the iPhone is all touch screen?
