I'm just wondering if and SD card may be a possibility. I know it doesnt quite make sense but my reason is twofold. One, Top view pics from engadget show a possible section (not the ipod hold tab) that looks like it may allow for a SD. Second, EBcases is offering a pre-release iphone case that has a space for an SD card. Of course this may just be a guess on their part but the pics of the cases seem to be true. Just speculation.
that slot is probably a sim slot. I wouldnt expect apple to have a sd slot, that's not their style if you look at past/current products
Good point. Good point. Forgot about the sim. And I agree it is not there style to have an SD.
Could an SD reader be attached to the iPod port if one were created for it?

I'm not sure I understand. I was thinking of a small device that attaches to the iPod port where I can insert a small memory card that holds 8/16/32G more movies/shows/etc, all accessible from the iPhone like its own internal storage. This sounds a lot better than hooking up to a laptop. Or did you mean for transferring data to the iPhone?

Since they exist for iPods, I see no reason why not. In fact, the ones made for iPods might even work with an iPhone. Check out this thread.
Maybe an adaptor could be made for the connection end to make the iphone think a cpu is hooked. Sort of how they did the "hard drive" for the psp. They dummied a memory stick which lead to a hard drive.
