I seriously doubt they will include an SD slot. Some people are confusing the slit looking thing on the side for an SD slot. But look at the official picture. It's clearly a rocker button, probably for taking pictures or something like that.

Nope, it's volume. That was mentioned in the keynote.

Yeah that is definitely looks like the volume. The SD reference I was talking about was on the top of the phone. However, I dont believe it is an SD slot rather a SIM slot...makes sooo much sense. And as everyone is pointing out, It is not Apple's style to go to SD, although there is a big movement in the industry to "flash" storage. I think toshiba but I could be wrong has a 64GB card. Just food for thought.

Yep, the thing on top is definitely the SIM Tray. I don't think there will be a need for Apple to ever implement an SD slot. They will continue to bump up the internal flash size over time. If they expect to have the iPhone replace your video iPod this will have to happen.

If they expect to have early adopters, they need a SD media slot.

I use my Treo 650 at work, and move SD media cards between my phone, camera and latop, as a fast, efficient way to move photos, spreadsheets and word docs around.

Without an SD media card, i won't consider the iPhone and the undisclosed cost of the required data plan. Especially since the iPhone would be on my dime and not the company's. So I guess i wait for rev 2.

I'd agree with you that SD is very efficient between electronics. I too interchange between my mac, camera, 8525 smarthphone, miniDV, and pc. However, as a new mac user (only about 1 1/2) I have to say that most of apple's stuff is easily sync almost eliminating the need for a "third" party storage. I love SD dont get me wrong and I love all my apple products. I'm not sure whether or not SD should be a primary reason for not adopting an iphone sooner. It seems that apple will not be including the SD slot...hmmmm decisions...

If I had to bet, I think you are going have to wait a lot longer than for Version 2. As much as I would like Apple to add an SD slot, I don't see it happening. If you really want an iPhone and SD support is a must for you, I think your best bet is going to be getting an SD reader accessory (like this one for the video iPod). If that solution is not acceptable to you, I think your going to have to find a different phone .

I hope it has a sim card. I HATE transferring all my contact information from old phones to new phones. I know that iphone has an option to sync with your address books from outlook and stuff - but I've never bothered to put it all in there.

You can typically sync your current phone to your Mac, then sync your Mac back to your new iPhone. That makes it pretty painless.

With 4gb or 8gb of storage, why would one need an SD card? If for business purposes, wouldn't one have a data plan already? I have a Motorola ROKR E6, and I couldn't tell ya the last time that i removed the SD card.
