yup, that was the main reason, at least that's what they said. But, I think there should be a 3g iPhone if there is a market for it, and there definitely is. There is no reason Apple couldn't offer the 3g version and keep the 1st gen EDGE only phone on the market for people who don't need 3g. I mean there is no reason that Apple has to limit themselves to only have one handset. RIM, MOTO, LG, Samsung, Nokia all have several handsets on most carriers available. Those who want 3g will almost certainly know of the negative effects it will have on the battery. For those with no need for 3g they could opt for the non 3g device. I'll be honest I want 3g or HSDPA, but not if the battery is as horrible as it was on my N95-3. That is the main reason I switched back to the iPhone.
