What is new is the paragraph about early upgrade pricing, but the date is the same as it was since I originally bought my 3G. So I am not sure what the purpose of the 2nd paragraph is. 4/16/10 is not 12 months from when I bought 3G.

I have basically the same message. I think it's just telling me that I'm eligible, but only on 12/12/09 (in my case) and after.

That's 18 months from purchase date. I think that is the standard "early upgrade eligibility" that AT&T offers. Apparently for some it's only 12 months if they spend enough money? I don't know about that. But you're right in line with their 18-month standard offer.

Its the susidized price plus the early termination fee.

So jailbreak, unlock and sell your iphone, pay the early term and then get a new phone. You should be able to get at least 299 for your current phone...

Total for new phone: Cost of early termination.

Wow, u guys in the USA have a different structure to the UK. We only have 18month contracts on the iPhone. People with the original iPhone were allowed to upgrade early to the 3G iPhone - what it meant was that the original contract was terminated and they were given a new 18month contract. I imagine it will be the same format once the new iPhone is unveiled.

I have a new paragraph on my AT&T page now. My date is the day after I purchased my phone this past July. So it has been only a year not 18 months. So I guess different rules apply to different accounts. I don't know. I had a different paragraph before that said nothing about this. I'm happy with it though. I'll take it!

You are not eligible to upgrade at a discounted price due to your length of service. However, you may still purchase a phone/device at the full price. Our records indicate that you will be eligible for an upgrade at a discounted price on 07/11/2009

Line 1 had V1 from original iDay, replaced with 3G on 3G iDay. Upgrade eligible 7/11/09.

but can't upgrade second line till 3/11/2010 for a iPhone 3G from 3G iDay; I guess because I'm using V1 after washing the 3G.

My Third line with V1 from iDay can be upgraded today, just haven't done it. Was waiting for a Red one, now I don't know what I'm waiting for now.

I just checked my upgrade status. It's weird though, the first sentence of the second paragraph contradicts the rest of the statement. The date is 20 months from the purchase of my 3G. Does it mean that I'm eligible for a partial discount?

I think as the time for the new phone release gets near AT&T will be making changes on these statements. From the different posts about this last year I think something like this happend last year too.

"Early Upgrade": is 399 8GB 499 16GB

"Regular Upgrade": is 199 8GB 299 16GB

"Full Price of iPhone": 599 8GB 699 16GB

the early upgrade is offered to "preferred" AT&T customers who pay a certain minimum monthly payment. the early upgrade is used more for replacing a lost or stolen phone. the regular upgrade you guys are hoping for is what we all got last year when we upgraded from V1 to 3G's. The early upgrade dates that you all are seeing are referring to the 399 and 499 price points, not 199 and 299 that a regular upgrade would give you. Trust me i know this system well
