As some of you might have noticed, we launched a new blog section here at EverythingiCafe. So what's the difference between the news found on the homepage and the blog? Simply put, the blog allows us to introduce new writers to the site and expand our coverage. Without getting too much into detail, the existing method of posting news was not very straightforward and didn't support a multi-writer format.
The blog component changes all of this. In the interim, you'll find the major news stories gracing the homepage. The blog will focus on smaller stories and will be updated more often. The blog allows us to expand our writing staff and our coverage. Over time, I expect the blog will converge with the homepage news, however we have a few technology hurdles to get over before that can happen. In the meantime, please accept my apologies for the fractured content delivery. I'm hopeful this will be resolved sometime in September.
Without further ado, I'd like to introduce the first writer to join team. Marianne, known in these parts as macgirl, will be a regular contributor to the EverythingiCafe blog. I've been a fan of her writing and I'm thrilled to have her on the team.
Expanding Our Staff
If you are interested in writing for Everything iCafe, we'd like to hear from you! If it's a one time "How to Guide" or a daily column, we are looking for volunteers to contribute to the site in our efforts to offer expanded coverage of the iPhone. This could lead to a paid position over time. Interested parties should use this contact form. Please include a brief overview of your experience, level of interest (daily, bi-weekly, one off article) and topics you'd live to cover. Please do not PM me regarding this position.
Hey everyone,
This is probably an easy question, but I have just gotten my iphone, and I was wondering if there is a chance that I can have a picture on the screen where the icons are, when the phone is not being used. I am looking for something besides the black background that the icons are on. I hope some one may have the answer to this.
Thank you.
Ok there freakydeaky, I have loaded the program that you have given me. I appreciate the help, but I must once again ask for your expertise, and guidance.......now what? Please think of me as a confused individual that needs very precise directions. In all seriusness, if you can help me from here, it would be very helpful. The winpwm program has been loaded and there is a shortcut on my desk top. I am using windows vista. I am not really retarded, (even though I probably come across as such), My goal is to have some nice icons, and nice backgrounds / wallpaper on the iphone. Thank you in advance as any help would be greatly appreciated,
Brian.
Did you jailbreak it with wnpwm? If not yet, then plug in your phone and launch the program. I've never used that one before, I used ziphone. I'm not sure what it looks like. But it should give you the option to jailbreak somewhere in there.
I think you should definately just use Ziphone if your confused because Winpwn has alot more steps with ziphone all you do is restore your phone/set up as new/ run ziphone/ press jailbreak

Thank you, that worked great, now all I have to figure out is how to get the clear icons. thanks for everything,
B
Add Fight Club to your source list and install Blank App from the Fight Club category. This will create a blank icon on your home screen. Press on one of the blank spaces on your home screen until the icons begin jiggling. You can then drag the unwanted icons to a blank screen.
If you just want to hide your icons, consider installing the dock application and Poof. Poof makes your icons invisible, while the dock application gives you a Leopard-like stack of your icons for navigation.
Thank you, but why?, and last but not least how, and then what...like I said I know that I resemble a rider of short school buses, but I assure you that I am not .....lol, I would just like to have a picture showing all of the time, instead of the insiious black screen that has the icons on it. Please get me out of this black screen hell..........
B.
Ok this is really pretty easy Condor. Black screen of hell will soon be gone.
Just get ziphone, install it, and jailbreak your phone. Then when you see the installer icon on your iphone screen click on it. When that opens up click on the install button at the bottom. Go to "all packages" and scroll down till you find the summerboard application. Install that and you are set. In summerboard you can control the wallpapers behind the icons and on the lock screen. Let me know how this goes.
Oh and make sure you back up your phone contacts and any music and pictures etc. before you jailbreak.
