agreed...i often use the maps feature to find restaurants, which also conveniently gives the website when available. too bad many restaurants have flash based intros, making the menu and other sections unavailable by iphone. i'd like to be able to get directions, read the menu and call for a reservation without worrying if my phone can access the website.
Yea, I'd be down for flash, but it seems most of the other requests are kinda subject to fit very small niches.
I agree that we don't need flash. It's takes too long to load and the people who want it should just carry around a laptop everywhere they go.
However, I do wish, that more companies would adopt WEP websites. I love using those that use no flash and load quickly. Take Bank of America as a good example. Although I don't bank there, their mobile website is excellent. My bank, Citibank, doesn't have a mobile website and it's a pain in the ass to check my account balance on the iphone, even when I'm using wifi. I'm even considering changing over to BofA for this reason.
If we had more mobile websites, we wouldn't need flash at all.

This seems like backward thinking. I HATE wep sites. I could do that with my Razr. The point of the iphone is to be able to surf a normal web page. At the very least - perhaps an option? CNN, fandango, and many other sites offer the option, including BOA. That, to me, would appease the masses.
I see your point, but I more hate websites that are time consuming to load when I'm on the go.
I like the example of the restaurant websites on the previous page. I use google maps to search for restaurants more than anything else. When I find one, but then can't load the webpage for 5 minutes, if at all, due to all the graphics and such, then it's not convenient anymore. I want the option to go to the mobile site or the regular site which needs all the plugins. If I'm at home and need to go to a full site, I'm more inclined to pull out my laptop rather than browse on the iphone.

Just my opinion
Keyword: option. If it has the option, then I'm happy. I hate being forced to WEP sites when I have a phone that can view as normal...
WEP is a completely separate issue. That's not something that Apple can control... only the creators of the websites. What apple CAN control, however, is the ability for the iphone to show any format of website that might be created.
Let's face it, flash isn't going to disappear just because it doesn't work well on mobile devices (so far).
