ADSEGUY

Our suggestions would fall on deaf ears, as final production runs are currently being manufactured.

Unless Apple is planning to charter a plane to bring all its new handsets here from overseas, you can be fairly sure that pre-production is over, and production of the final product is already underway, or will be within the next week or two. As a fella who deals in international shipping for my company, it usually takes about 3 weeks to receive product from China, once ordered. Here is the lowdown on international shipping via cargo container.....

"iPhone Sweatshop" manufactures 1,000,000 iPhones and calls a transportation company to pick up an international shipment due for the United States. Customs paperwork is created, and any HazMat documents are prepared, if there are any hazardous chemicals in the phone. Carrier arrives with a cargo container and it is loaded and then locked for the jouney. Shipper delivers the shipment to the boat yard where the customs broker takes all paperwork, makes sure it is all correct, then hopes that the shipment doesn't get delayed by a surprise inspection. If all goes well, the cargo container is loaded onto the ship and it sits there until the entire cargo ship is loaded to the MAX. Now, it often takes up to three weeks to fill a cargo ship, so the shipment could be earlier. Apple knows about lead times, and plans accordingly when issuing press releases and when Uncle Steve pulls things from his back pocket!

So if Apple knows there is a 3 week lead time for products to reach the states, you can do the math quite easily.

1. 3 weeks for shipment
2. 1 week extra, just in case
3. 1 week to get phones from port of entry-to retail shops

Uncle Steve is famous for making his products available right after his speeches, so that clearly means the new iPhones must be in production already, if they are to be available between June 9-13.

That's your business lesson for today folks....Tomorrow we will discuss effectively diversifying your assets portfolio, and how make a dollar out of 15 cents.

I agree 100% jslappa!

I don't understand why that was directed at me. Maybe because I speculated on what the new iphone will have. I'm VERY sure pre-production is done and Jobs and a few other top people have some in their hands to tinker with.

Where are you people getting these "two iPhones" or "two firmwares" ideas? Did I miss something in one of these articles?

The quoted engadget article seems to suggest that there is an enterprise version of the firmware. What is not so clear is whether the enterprise firmware applies to all or just to corporate/government use.

*Since most people in this thread are on a lot of other threads I've seen we should also suggest, as a hardware fix, a GOOD speaker this time!*

No disrespect at all adseguy, I should have started by saying that our suggestions would fall on deaf ears, as final production runs are currently being manufactured. My error completely.

Couldn't quite hear you? Please speak up. You're not coming in too clearly or loudly.

The link states it will be slimmer? I guess we'll have to buy new cases now. I would think it would be alittle fatter...

Sorry if that didn't make sinse, i'm alittle dunk, heheeeh

Sold mine yesterday, unlocked, for 525. Switched back to a BB Curve for the time being. Figured I'd better unload it now and stick out for a month or two, than get hosed.
